Tao sat on his couch, bored out of his mind. It was too quiet in his little studio apartment, but he didn’t know who to call. That was always his problem. He didn’t want to bother any of his friends with last minute hang out plans, so he never texted anyone. He breathed out a sigh and looked curiously when he heard a knock on the door. He got up and looked out the peep hole in his door. He didn’t recognize the person he saw, so he just decided to ignore them. They would go away if they figured no one was home. He went back to the couch and sat down.
Suddenly the door burst open, he stood quickly, ready for a fight. The man ran into the apartment and Tao was the first to throw the first punch. His fist connected with the man’s jaw and he stumbled back, but only for a moment. The man charged at him and swung his own fist, Tao dodging gracefully. The man had brass knuckles. Not something Tao wanted to feel against him. He was preparing for the next strike, but didn’t hear the second man. The second sneaked up behind Tao and swung his metal pole, connecting with the back of Tao’s head. Tao went down instantly, his blood soaking into the carpet. The two men went through his apartment and stole everything of value before getting out, leaving Tao unconscious on the floor.
